Split Check
Dividing one table's bill across several guests or payment methods.
Splitting a check divides a single table's items across multiple bills, either evenly, by seat or by moving individual items. It is a routine service expectation in full-service dining and a common source of till errors when done by hand. Seat numbers are what make item-level splitting practical, because they record who ordered what at the moment of ordering rather than at the moment of paying.
