Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about running your restaurant on Opero — the platform, the per-location pricing, and getting started on the tablets you already own.

What is Opero?
Opero is an all-in-one restaurant operating system that runs your whole restaurant on one platform — point of sale, kitchen display (KDS), self-order kiosk, QR and online ordering, reservations, inventory and recipe costing, staff scheduling, payments, loyalty and guest CRM, and an AI command center. Instead of stitching together five separate tools, everything shares one menu and one live dataset, so your reports match the register. Opero is a product of TackOn LLC.
How does Opero's pricing work?
Pricing is per location, per month, and month-to-month: Starter is $99, Growth is $249, and Pro is $499 per location, with a custom Enterprise tier. Every plan includes unlimited devices, so your bill is driven by how many locations you run — not how many terminals, screens, or kiosks you use. You can start free with no credit card required.
Are there per-device or per-terminal fees?
No. Opero never charges per device. Every plan includes unlimited POS terminals, KDS screens, kiosks, customer displays, and handhelds, and you're billed only per location. Adding another tablet-based station never adds to your bill.
Can I use my own tablets and hardware?
Yes — bring-your-own-hardware is the core of the model. Opero runs on standard iPads and Android tablets you already own, and it ships one payment device per location so you can take cards from day one. There are no leased terminals and no multi-year hardware contracts to sign or unwind.
What's included on each plan at a glance?
Starter ($99) runs a single location with POS, KDS, QR and web ordering, reservations/waitlist/floor plan, coupons, a guest database with loyalty points, digital menu boards, and reporting. Growth ($249) adds unlimited locations, inventory and recipe costing, scheduling and time clock, QuickBooks Online sync, email and SMS marketing, DoorDash Drive delivery dispatch, AI recommendations, and a cross-location dashboard. Pro ($499) adds the AI Operating Partner, automated accounts payable with approvals, and multi-brand/franchise reporting; Enterprise (custom) adds SSO, custom integrations, corporate and regional dashboards, and dedicated onboarding.
How does Opero compare to Toast, Square, or Clover?
The biggest difference is the pricing and hardware model: Opero is priced per location with unlimited devices and no per-terminal fees, and it runs on tablets you already own instead of leased hardware. It also consolidates ordering, inventory, scheduling, loyalty, and payments into one platform and one bill rather than a base POS plus a stack of paid add-ons. See the detailed breakdowns at operoos.com/vs/toast, /vs/square-for-restaurants, and /vs/clover.
Is there a free trial, and do I need a credit card?
You can create an account and start for free with no credit card required — the signup call to action across the site is "Start free, no card required." All paid plans are month-to-month with no long-term contract, and Enterprise is set up by contacting sales.
How does card processing work?
Card processing is built into your per-location plan, and Opero includes one payment device per location. Every charge — whether it comes from the POS, the kiosk, or QR/table ordering — is auto-matched to its order, so payments and sales reconcile in one place at close. Processing is transparent and scales with your volume; you can see the rate for your business at operoos.com/find-your-rate.
Are there add-ons, like the marketing suite or text packs?
Yes. The Marketing suite is a $19.99/month add-on (billed per account) that unlocks marketing campaigns — email and SMS campaigns — along with audience segments and campaign ROI, and it includes 500 marketing texts per month. It's already bundled into Growth and higher, so only Starter locations add it. For months you send past your included texts, prepaid text credit packs are available, and those credits never expire and roll over month to month. The AI Operating Partner is included on Pro and Enterprise, not a separate charge.
Is there a contract, or can I cancel anytime?
Every plan is month-to-month with no long-term contract — you scale by adding or removing locations as you open or close them, and there's nothing to unwind. Enterprise is set up by contacting sales.
How do I get support or onboard my restaurant?
Email support@operoos.com any time and the team will help you get running on the hardware you already own. Enterprise plans include dedicated onboarding.
